Formability

This material will withstand up to 4*t (up to 0.3125 » thick) and 6*t (0.3126 – 0.500 » thick) bending; however, larger bend radiuses are recommended to reduce the effect of cold working and highly localized residual stresses associated with bending.

Weldability

Dynamic AR 500 plates could be welded by common welding methods for high-strength medium-carbon steels. Appropriate heat input controls should be used to prevent localized overheating. Preheating (although not required) can be done to eliminate surface moisture and to reduce thermal gradient. Preheat temperatures should not exceed 400°F to avoid “softening” of Dynamic AR 500 plates.
